Music is more that a pleasurable pastime it's the inspiration behind JAN LORD's creations.
Each painting, expressionist at its core intergraes not only the tone and mood of a song but meaningful lyrics that remind her of beautiful and exotic places she has been fortunate to visit. She paints the essence of songs, from rock, blues, soul to classical and opera. However, Rock music inspires most of her creativity. Soulful lyrics remind her of moments in time like the beautiful azure blue waters of Bosporus in Istanbul, colorfu and fragrant summers in Vancouver B. C. and the wave-tossed beaches in Southern California.
The juzaposition of music, art, and movies are expericend in Jan's paintings.such as "Just Want To Be your Everything". Her exspansive surfaces command attention of passers-by. Collectors enjoy Jan's art as it magaically transforms their spaces.
A Southern Californa resident for over 15 years, Jan's has joined a group of artists in San Diego. Early in her adult life, she grew up in Vancouver, Canada where she mastered the arts of oils, scrylics, stained glass works, collage and water colors. In 2005 her creativity took a turn. A new form of freedom of expression and emotion emergred in ech painting, a sign that she is inspired by her favorite masters like Helen Frankenthaler, Jean Michel Basquiat, Cy Tombly and Frank Stella.
Jan is two time recipient of First Prize in the 2D Mixed Media category at Beverly Hills, 2016. She has exhibited at Cube Art Fair in Brussels.
